Hello Neighbors,

We want to share an important update: due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) may not issue benefits as usual in November and while the shutdown continues.

Because of the federal government shutdown, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has not released the funds that states use to pay SNAP (food assistance) benefits. This means Colorado is unable to issue the approximately $120 million of November SNAP benefits to clients until the federal government restores funding.

What this means for Golden:

  • If SNAP benefits are delayed, more families may suddenly need emergency food support.

  • BGOLDN’s Fresh Food Pantry and Grocery Home Delivery programs will be standing by to help.

  • If you or someone you know may need help in the coming weeks, please don’t hesitate to reach out—no judgement, just support.

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Donate now – Every dollar helps us stock up for increased demand.

  2. Volunteer or spread the word – More hands mean more support for neighbors.

  3. Know we’re here for you – If you’re worried about the food you’ll have next month, let us know by emailing us at hello@bgoldn.org.

Thank you for being part of our caring community. Together, we’ll make sure no neighbor in Golden faces hunger alone.

Warmly,
The BGOLDN Team
